The town of Braselton was first settled in 1876 and found in Jackson County. The land that would become Braselton was first settled when William Harrison Braselton and his family moved from Hall County. Braselton was incorporated last August 21, 1916 with William Henry Braselton serving as its first Mayor. The Town Hall, circa 1909, is the home built by Pallie Darby Braselton and William Henry. The home was purchased by the Town in 1995 and opened as the Town Hall in October 1998.

In 1989, Kim Basinger, famous actress who was a native of Georgia selected Braselton as a perfect location for developing tourist spots that would feature recording and movie studios, film festivals and boutiques. She purchased the entire town (1,800 acres) for 20million dollars. Due to bankruptcy and financial constraints, Basinger abandoned her plans and sold the entire town for 1 million dollars only.
